Women’s Basketball Entertains Harvard on Tuesday

PHILADELPHIA – After the Hawk Classic was canceled due to COVID protocols and procedures, Saint Joseph's women's basketball will entertain Harvard for a single game on Tuesday at 2 p.m. The matchup will stream nationally on ESPN+ and internationally through the Atlantic 10.
 
ABOUT SAINT JOSEPH'S:
  • The Hawks have won three of their last four games, having most recently lost to Vanderbilt.
  • St. Joe's is scoring 58.3 ppg and allowing 60.1 ppg, while shooting 39.4% overall, 31.6% from deep, and 70.9% from the line.
  • SJU boasts seven Hawks averaging above 5.0 ppg, led by graduate student Katie Jekot (11.5) and junior Kaliah Henderson (11.3). The only Hawk to start in 10 games this season, Jekot has tallied double digit scoring totals in six games, including five straight.
  • Jekot leads the team in three pointers (23), assists per game (3.4), and steals per game (2.1). Her 37.7% from long range is fourth best in the Atlantic 10.
  • Henderson is also tied for the team lead in rebounds with graduate student Alayna Gribble (4.9). In her eight games this season, Henderson has topped 16+ points in four.
  • Gribble sits third on the squad with 8.6 ppg. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native has started all nine games she's appeared in.
  • The trio of rookies Laila Fair (7.6), Mackenzie Smith (6.6), and Talya Brugler (6.5) are the next three scorers in line. Smith and Brugler are the only Hawks to play in all 11 games this season.
ABOUT HARVARD:
  • The Crimson are 5-6 under head coach Kathy Delaney-Smith who is in her 40th season at the helm of the program. The team has won its last two games.
  • Harvard is scoring 69.7 ppg and allowing 68.8 ppg, while shooting 39.7% from the floor, 35.1% from three-point range, and 65.5% from the charity stripe.
  • Five players are scoring at least 7.6 points per game, with a trio averaging double figures.
  • Harmoni Turner leads the group with 13.5 ppg and is the team's leading rebounder with 5.8 rpg.
  • McKenzie Forbes is second with 12.9 ppg, followed by Lola Mullaney with 12.8 ppg.
  • Harvard has five players with at least 19 assists this season.
