PHILADELPHIA – Graduate student captain
Justin Moscoe won the 100m and placed second in the 200m to lead the Saint Joseph's men's track and field squad at the unscored Philadelphia Big 5 Meet at Franklin Field on Saturday. In all, the Hawks took home eight top-three finishes in individual events.
Â
Racing the first open 100m of his collegiate career, Moscoe crossed the finish line in 10.86 to edge out Penn's Emerson Douds (10.89), Dimitri Nicholson (11.13), and Weston Wendt (11.17) for the win in a field of nine short sprinters.
Â
"The 100m is a race I'm not too familiar with, but it was a lot of fun to mix up the events and come out of it with a win and a new PR," said Moscoe, who earned his sixth collegiate victory and second on the outdoor scene after winning the Penn Challenge's 400m last weekend. "The future of SJU track and field is looking bright!"
Â
Less than an hour later, Moscoe finished second in a 200m field of 10 short sprinters, clocking in with a collegiate-best time of 21.92 with the first sub-22.00 performance of his career.

Freshman jumper
Patrick Fehm turned in a pair of second-place finishes, going for a high jump PR of 6' 6 3/4" (field of seven) and a triple jump PR of 45' 4 1/4" (field of four), both improvements from his collegiate-debut marks in both events at last weekend's Penn Challenge.
Â
Junior captain
Kyle Magee placed second in the 400m hurdles field of seven (55.12) while junior
Michael Welde (49.65) went second in the 400m field of 11; in his first collegiate outdoor 400m, sophomore
Ladi Bamgbose (50.09 PR) followed Welde with a third-place finish.
Â
Graduate student
John Walker crossed the finish line of the 800m in a collegiate-best time of 1:52.81, marking the first time in his collegiate career he went sub-1:53 for the open 800m. Walker's performance was good for third in a field of 13. Â
Â
Notable fourth-place finishes came from senior captain
Matthew Scarpill, who ran a collegiate-best 1500m (3:55.27 PR) in the field of 19, and freshman
John Salt, who posted a collegiate-best mark in the long jump (22' 5 3/4") in a field of seven.
Â
The Hawks return to action at the Temple Invitational next Friday, April 9. Start time at the Temple Sports Complex in Philadelphia is set for 3:00 p.m. Â
