BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Saint Joseph's senior forward
Jordan Olenginski was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's 2020 Division I Senior Team on Wednesday.
In light of the cancellation of the annual NFHCA Senior Game due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization chose to maintain the practice of recognizing a select group of senior student-athletes for their career accomplishments. Olenginski is one of three seniors from Atlantic 10 programs to receive the honor and is the fifth Hawk in the last three seasons to be selected after Joely Helder and Anna Willocks in 2018 and Victoria Kammerinke and Pepa Serrano in 2019.
Olenginski was recently named as one of the winners of the Saint Joseph's Class of 1950 Award, which is bestowed upon the top student-athletes – one from a men's team and one from a women's team – in the graduating class. She earned Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team and All-Championship honors this season and ranked third on the team in goals and assists during the shortened spring 2021 campaign.
A native of Mountain Top, Pennsylvania, Olenginski enjoyed a breakout junior season in 2019, earning First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-Region laurels after finishing second in the league in goals and fourth in points. A two-year captain, she helped lead the Hawks to three consecutive A-10 regular season and tournament championship sweeps from 2017 to 2019, and a fourth trip to the title game – the program's fifth in a row – in the spring of 2021.
She has also proven to be an outstanding student, earning NFHCA Scholar of Distinction and National Academic Squad honors in each of her four seasons on Hawk Hill. Olenginski is also a three-time Atlantic 10 All-Academic selection, and was named to the
Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team in both 2018 and 2019 (no team was selected for the 2020-21 season). She was also selected to represent Saint Joseph's and the Atlantic 10 at the 2020 NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum.
The NFHCA will announce its annual All-Region and All-America honors next month.
