Completing his fifth year in the NBA, and first with the Toronto Raptors, Bembry shot a career-best 51.3 percent from the floor and averaged 5.7 points per game this season as he appeared in 51 contests and made 12 starts. One of 10 finalists for the NBA Cares Seasonlong Community Assist Award, Bembry was recognized for his philanthropic work with his foundation,
AP World Organization. Dedicated to creating safer communities and providing families with resources for managing and overcoming grief, AP World Organization was created by Bembry in memory of his brother Adrian, who passed away due to gun violence weeks prior to the 2016 NBA Draft.
Appearing in 101 career games on Hawk Hill, Bembry helped Saint Joseph's win two Atlantic 10 Championships (2014, 2016), make two NCAA appearances, and finished his career as the 15th leading scorer in school history with 1,590 points. Named the 2016 Player of the Year in both the Atlantic 10 and the Philadelphia Big 5, Bembry was selected 21st overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2016 NBA Draft.
The winner of the 2020-21 NBA Cares Seasonlong Community Assist Award is determined by fan votes and an NBA executive panel.
