WILMINGTON, Del. – The USciences cross country program returned to competition for the first time in over 22 months on Saturday morning, opening its 2021 campaign at the Wilmington Invite hosted at Carousel Park.
On the women's side, redshirt-freshman Jenny Sidarous led the Devils with a top-10 finish in her first career collegiate cross country race, completing the 5K course in 21:54.2 to place ninth in the field of 52.
Graduate William Hallinan led the men with a 19th place finish in a field of 46, running the 8K course in 31:25.9, while freshman Caleb Dougherty crossed five positions behind him with a time of 32:41.5 in his collegiate debut.
Redshirt-freshman Ciaran Dubeck was the second Devil to cross in women's race, clocking in at 25:09.2 in his first career collegiate cross country race.
Graduate Paige Jacobs (27:18.4) was the lone upperclassmen to run for the USciences women, while redshirt-sophomore Sabrina Abbruzzese (28:21.3) and Sarah Herter (32:10.8) also ran their first career collegiate cross country races.
University of the Sciences is back in action next Saturday for the Philadelphia Metropolitan Championships hosted at Belmont Plateau.
