Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The USciences men's basketball team made a late first half push, before Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division leader Jefferson pulled away in the second to defeat the Devils 101-67 on Thursday evening at Bobby Morgan Arena.
Jefferson (8-3, 4-0 CACC) took its first double-digit advantage, 20-10, on a 3-pointer with 11:04 remaining in the first half, and the Rams' lead would reach a first-half-high 18 twice, including at 40-22 4:10 ahead of the break.
USciences made a push with back-to-back 3-pointers by Omari Salvi and Zachary Foley, before Jordan Davidson scored four straight Devils points to complete a 14-5 surge to cut the deficit to single-digits, 45-36, on a layup with an even one minute remaining.
University of the Sciences had an opportunity to get even closer after a defensive stop, but a turnover led to Jefferson beating the buzzer to take a 47-36 advantage into the locker room.
The Rams would then score the first 10 points of the second half en route to pulling away.
Salvi (15 points), Foley (13) and Matthew McCaffrey (10) all set new season-highs in scoring on the evening.
Tommy Gardler was also in double-figures with 10 points, while Davidson added nine and Darryl Brown Jr. had eight.
Foley led University of the Sciences with a season-best five assists, while Davidson and Brown Jr. also set season-highs with four and three, respectively.
Chrisovalantis Apostolopoulos notably made his collegiate debut.
University of the Sciences faces another CACC power on Saturday, traveling to No. 14/20 Dominican – the top-ranked team in the region – for a 3 p.m. tip.
