No. 22 Women's Basketball's Dominant First-Half Defense Leads to 65-36 Win Over Felician

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 22 USciences women's basketball team held Felician to seven first half points, including just one in the second quarter, en route to a 65-36 victory over the Golden Falcons on Saturday afternoon at Bobby Morgan Arena.

Felician shot just 13.6 percent (3-of-22) in the opening 20 minutes, including missing all 10 of their field goal attempts in the second period.

The Golden Falcons ended up shooting 22 percent (11-of-50) on the afternoon.  

University of the Sciences (12-3, 7-2 CACC) has now held four of its nine Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponents under 40 points.

Jess Huber's 3-pointer with 6:36 remaining in the first quarter broke the game's only tie, and USciences led the rest of the way.

That began a stretch of 11 unanswered for the Devils, the final four of which were scored by Anna McTamney.

University of the Sciences led 13-6 after 10 minutes of play before scoring the first nine points of the second quarter to establish a double-digit advantage it would never relinquish, which leading 27-7 at the half.

Huber led all players with 19 points on the afternoon, adding a career-best seven rebounds and tying Dayna Balasa with a game-high three assists.

Taylor Hamm recorded her third double-double in six games with 12 points and a game-high 12 boards, while Kendall Keyes was also in double-figures with 11 points.

Hamm, Keyes and Isla Brennan all tallied a game-high two steals as well.

University of the Sciences outrebounded Felician 47-25, tying a season-high, and the Devils bench outscored the Golden Falcons' bench 21-1, led by McTamney's seven points.

Fellow freshman Allison Waters notably matched her season-best with three points off the bench.

University of the Sciences takes a week off before returning to action with a 1 p.m. tip at Caldwell next Saturday.
