Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Senior Taylor Hamm recorded her second career double-double, leading all players with a career-high 17 points, 12 rebounds and five assists, and the No. 14 USciences women's basketball scored the first 10 points en route to leading wire-to-wire in a 65-39 win at city-rival Holy Family on Wednesday evening.
Isla Brennan opened the scoring with a 3-pointer just 15 seconds into her first career start, and after back-to-back layups by Hamm, Kendall Keyes' triple just 3:03 in quickly made the score 10-0.
Holy Family could only get as close as seven, before Juliana Gura's layup four seconds ahead of the first quarter buzzer gave University of the Sciences a double-digit lead for good.
Hamm matched her career-best by making six field goals on 10 attempts, while also tying her career-high by making 5-of-6 free throws. The 12 boards were one shy of a season-best, while her game-high five assists were one shy of another career-best.
Keyes added 15 points and four assists, both of which were the game's second-highest total, with the latter matching a career-best.
Brennan and Jess Huber both had nine points, a new season-high for the former who also led all players with a career-best three steals.
Shannon May also had three steals, while Gura (five points and five rebounds) and Bria Johnson (season-highs of four points and four rebounds) made important contributions off the bench.
Holy Family became the third opponent USciences has held under 40 points this season as the Tigers managed to shoot just 25.9 percent (15-of-58), including making just 1-of-15 from beyond the arc (6.7 percent).
The Devils also turned the ball over a season-low seven times.
University of the Sciences will host its first game in over three weeks when it welcomes another city-rival, Jefferson, to Bobby Morgan Arena for a 5:30 p.m. tip next Tuesday.
