INDIANAPOLIS – After claiming its fifth Atlantic 10 championship in six seasons, the 11
th-ranked Saint Joseph's field hockey team will take on #8 Wake Forest in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in the First Round of the 2022 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship on Friday afternoon.

Game time between the Hawks and Demon Deacons is set for 2:30 p.m. The winner will take on the winner of the matchup between top-ranked North Carolina and the winner of a play-in game between Delaware and Lehigh on Sunday for a spot in the national semifinals.

Saint Joseph's (15-4) earned its berth via a dominant 3-0 shutout of #21 UMass in the Atlantic 10 title game on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks held the Minutewomen without a shot in the contest, the second time this season SJU held an opponent without a single scoring opportunity.

Wake Forest (15-5) received an at-large bid after falling to #5 Virginia in the ACC semifinals, 3-2, in overtime. Prior to the loss, the Demon Deacons had won 10 of their last 11 and 15 of their previous 17.

The Hawks have faced four opponents in this year's bracket, earning a win over Delaware while falling to North Carolina, Penn State, and Virginia.
