Box Score WATERBURY, Conn. – Jess Huber and Harlem Jennings both netted career-highs, and USciences' defense held Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division leader Post scoreless for a 7:07 stretch spanning the end of the third quarter and beginning of the fourth, ultimately leading to women's basketball's seventh straight win, 66-47, on Saturday afternoon.
Tied 30-30 at the half, the Devils scored the first six points of the third, only to have the Eagles come right back with five straight of their own to make it a one-point game with 5:52 remaining in the quarter.
USciences' defense would not allow another point in the period, forcing five misses and four turnovers, and four Devils combined to score the final nine points of the third to establish the afternoon's first double-digit lead, 45-35, on a Taylor Hamm layup.
University of the Sciences outscored Post 15-5 in the quarter, and the Eagles could get no closer than seventh in the fourth, which began with a Hamm basket to complete a 11-0 run.
Huber and Jennings combined for 45, with the duo netting respective career-highs of 30 and 15 points.
Huber outscored Post 13-12 in the fourth quarter herself, as her 30 points on 9-of-13 field goals and 9-of-10 free throws were double the amount of any other player. She also led all players with career-best four blocks.
Jennings surpassed her previous career-high in the first half alone, shooting 6-of-8 from the floor en route to 12 points of her points.
The two helped University of the Sciences shoot 51.0 percent (25-of-49) for the afternoon, its second-highest field goal percentage this season. The Devils also committed just eight turnovers, their third-lowest amount of the campaign.
Huber and Jennings also led USciences with three assists each, which tied a new career-best for Jennings, while Huber matched Hamm and Kendall Keyes (career-best) with a team-high four rebounds.
Hamm finished third on the Devils with nine points off the bench.
Post closed the first quarter with the final seven points to take its largest advantage, 17-10, and the Eagles led until a Jennings jumper tied the score at 23 with 3:38 left in the first half. Her jumper also knotted the score at 25 1:30 later, before a Huber 3-pointer gave USciences its first second quarter lead, 28-25, 1:24 ahead of the break.
Jennings' fourth basket in the final 4:20 momentarily put the Devils ahead again, 30-28, but two Post free throws with 19 seconds showing meant a third tie, 30-30, heading into the locker room.
University of the Sciences wraps up a three-game road-trip at Goldey-Beacom this Tuesday at 6 p.m.
