Men’s Track and Field Returned to Action at the Nittany Lion Challenge

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's men's track and field team returned to the track for the first time in over a month, taking part in the Nittany Lion Challenge.


TRACK RESULTS
  • Matt Coffey led a group of four Hawks in the mile to open action on the track, finishing seventh overall, second in his heat, with a 4:10.16 finish. Behind him, Will Rau and Noah Deckert took 15th and 16th with just a tenth of a second separating the two, Rau earning a 4:15.89 time while Deckert followed just behind with a mark of 4:15.98. Evan McGregor rounded out the group with a time of 4:22.45.
  • Donald Adams finished with a 7.24s time in the 60m dash, the mark falling short of a qualifying time for the finals.
  • As the lone Hawk in the 600m, Regent Walden opened his season with a time of 1:26.06 to place 14th in the event.
  • Michael Brittingham produced the best time for St. Joe's in the 400m, leading the Hawks with a time of 48.54s. Darren Cammauf won his heat for a seventh-best time of 49.37s, while Luke Noss finished just behind Cammauf for a ninth-place finish of 49.75s. Kevin Dennin finished his race with a 51.79s effort.
  • Another four Hawks competed in the 1,000m, Owen Moelter pacing St. Joe's to a 2:27.62 finish for 10th. Graham Phillips finished under a second behind, crossing the line in 13th with a 2:28.26 time. Gavin Campbell's time of 2:28.36 proved good for 15th while Sean Murphy's 2:31.66 finish was good or 23rd.
  • Jayden Greene was under three-tenths off the top spot in the 800m, having to settle for second in the event with a time of 1:51.98. Rau's second race of the afternoon saw the sophomore finish with a time of 1:56.39 to place seventh. Just outside of the top eight, Deckert took ninth with a 1:56.56 time. Josh Thaler opened his season with a time of 1:58.81.
  • Benjamin Henry took first in his heat in the 200m, finishing eighth overall with a time of 22.14s. Adam Petersen started his freshman campaign with a time of 22.76s, Jake Carrubba following just behind with a 22.81s finish.
  • Kevin Jumper led the Hawks in a crowded group in the 3000m, taking a 15th-place finish with a time of 8:34.76. Less than two seconds later, Josh Forrest followed his teammate with a time of 8:36.57. Tomek Przybylak added a time of 8:40.30 in the event, while Michael Glavin opened his season with an 8:49.68 time. Dawson Baptiste was the fifth to cross the line for SJU with a 9:00.61 finish.
  • The St. Joe's relay team of Darren Cammauf, Luke Noss, Jayden Greene and Michael Brittingham cruised to a second-place finish, able to edge past Georgetown to take the second-best mark with a time of 3:16.31.

FIELD RESULTS
  • Patrick Fehm led a group of four Hawks finishing in the top eight of the men's long jump, his second leap going for a 6.77m (22-2 ½) third-place effort. Cameron Campbell-Miller finished just two inches behind with a 6.72m (22-0 ¾) opening leap to place fourth. Donald Adams tied for sixth with two separate leaps of 6.57m (21-6 ¾) and Logan Henry rounded out the top eight with a 6.47m (21-2 ¾) effort.
  • Fehm delivered another third-place effort in the high jump, able to clear the bar at 2.02m (6-7 ½).

  • The Hawks return to action next week, taking part in the Moravian Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa. on Saturday, January 20.
