Men’s Track and Field Produce Strong Results at Moravian Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's men's track and field team competed at the Moravian Invitational on Saturday, highlighted by a pair of top performances in the high jump and long jump.
 
 
TRACK RESULTS
  • Dawson Baptiste started the Hawks' afternoon off with a fifth-place finish in the mile run, securing a time of 4:30.65. Cole Wassell finished his race with a time of 4:59.45.
  • Rookie Anton Bovone posted the first podium of the afternoon for the Hawks, his time of 2:00.39 good for third place in the 800m run. Following behind him, Immanuel Rota-Talarico finished fifth with a finish in 2:01.52.
  • Less than three-tenths separated a trio of Hawks in the 400m run, Regent Walden finished with the fastest time for the Hawks at 53.79s. Lleyton Winslow (54.01s) and Kevin Dennin (54.06s) finished just behind Walden as the three finished just outside of the top 10.
  • Both Hawks in the 3,000m run placed in the top eight, Ian Romea finishing fifth with a time of 8:58.13 for St. Joe's. Carter Geer's time of 9:02.15 saw the junior secure seventh.
  • James Mackey Jr. finished the 200m run with a time of 24.02s to place 13th on the afternoon to round out the track events.
 
FIELD RESULTS
  • The men took first and second to open the field portion of events as John Salt and Cameron Campbell-Miller secured the top two spots in the long jump. Salt's winning mark was 6.76m (22'2 ¼"), edging past the 6.74m (22'1 ½") mark set by Campbell-Miller. Logan Henry also finished in the top eight with a seventh-best leap of 6.30m (20'8").
  • The Hawks claimed two golds from their first two events as Patrick Fehm earned top spot in the high jump, clearing the bar at 2.05m (6'8 ¾") on his final attempt.
  • Campbell-Miller returned to action in the triple jump, his best effort coming on his fourth attempt to post a mark of 13.29m (43'7 ½").

The Hawks continue the early stages of the season with a trip to New York next week, taking part in the Columbia Challenge from January 26-27.
