Men’s Track and Field Finishes Soggy Afternoon at the Penn Challenge

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's track and field team returned to the track, opening the spring season with a rainy Saturday afternoon at the Penn Challenge.

Inclement weather caused delays throughout the morning, reducing the field during the course of the competition.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Starting the bell lap of the 1500m in 13th place, junior Josh Forrest kicked to win his heat in 4:03.09. Dawson Baptiste placed second in his heat with a time of 4:06.00. Anton Bovone closed out the Hawks' performances with 4:10.79.
  • In the 800m, freshman Colin Donahoe ran a PR of 2:02.55, closely followed by teammate Immanuel Rota-Talarico (2:03.04). Kevin Dennin also set a PR in his senior season-opener with a time of 2:05.85. Regent Walden and Lleyton Winslow followed close behind with times of 2:06.72 and 2:13.38, respectively.
  • Freshman Ian Romea began his outdoor season in the 3000m to run 8:58.29, only eight seconds off his indoor PR. Carter Geer also ran the 3000m with a time of 9:12.83, rounding out the Penn Challenge for the Hawks.
UP NEXT
The Hawks return to the track next week, taking part in the Danny Curran Invitational on March 29-30.
