Men’s Track and Field Earn Multiple IC4A Qualifiers at Quaker Invitational

PHILADELPHIA, PA. - The Saint Joseph's men's track and field team competed at the University of Pennsylvania's Ott Center on Saturday in the Quaker Invitational.
 
TRACK RESULTS
  • Sophomore Ryan Cichocki (4:16.23) started the Hawks off on the track with a four-second PR in the mile to place tenth in the event. Dawson Baptiste took three seconds off his previous PR to run 4:22.72. Freshman Elijah Stoudt opened his collegiate track career in a time of 4:25.12. Tommy Johnson (4:28.22) and Ethan McIntyre (4:32.14) closed out the event for the Hawks. 
  • Three runners were separated by two-thousandths of a second in the prelims of the 60m dash, Adam Peterson out-leaning teammate Henry Peklo (7.214s) and Villanova's Derrick Smith (7.215s) as his time of 7.213s was enough to secure the final spot in the 60m finals. Freshman Eli Turner finished 0.04 behind the two Hawks in 7.26s. 
  • In the finals of the 60m dash, Peterson placed seventh in a time of 7.18s. 
  • Regent Walden (51.14s) came from the fifth heat to drop .12 seconds off his previous best, taking 10th in the event while setting a new PR. James Mackey Jr. was close behind in a time of 51.62s. 
  • All five Hawks set IC4A-qualifying times in the 500m. Jayden Greene (1:04.09) led the pack in the event, placing fifth and setting a new personal best. Tommy Silvester (1:05.12), Elijah Smith (1:05.14), Luke Noss (1:05.36) and Darren Cammauf (1:05.58) finished back-to-back-to-back-to-back within 0.46 seconds of each other. 
  • Running his first collegiate 800m, freshman Chris Manzo (1:54.88) led the Hawks to place seventh. Freshman teammate Tom Barausky (1:55.51) was less than a second behind, setting a new PR. Immanuel Rota-Talarico and Anton Bovone were only separated by .22 seconds, coming across the line in 1:57.04 and 1:57.26. Bovone's performance was a PR. Colin Donahoe rounded out the event for the Hawks in 2:01.24. 
  • Tomek Przybylak (2:27.87) and Graham Phillips (2:28.73) placed sixth and eighth in the 1000m. The pair both ran IC4A-qualifying times. Josh Thaler crossed the finish line in 2:34.45. 
  • In the 200m, Peklo (22.62s) set a new PR which was set last week at the Penn Select. Turner (22.95s) also broke his best time from last weekend's meet. Only 0.03s separated Peterson (23.27s) and Mackey Jr. (23.30s). The second heat brought Jake Carubba in with a time of 23.48s. 
  • Carter Geer and Cole Wassell raced the 3000m, crossing the line in 9:04.68 and 9:27.10, respectively.
  • To close out a successful day for the Hawks, the 4x400 team of Noss, Greene, Cammauf, and Smith ran the second-fastest time of the season in 3:18.81. The team of Silvester, Manzo, Walden, Carrubba ran a time of 3:26.12, and the team of Peklo, Turner, Barausky, and Donahoe closed out the event with a 3:30.00 finish. 
 
FIELD RESULTS
  • Logan Henry represented the Hawks in the long jump, jumping to a best mark of 5.98m. 
 
UP NEXT
The Hawks take part in their first meet outside of city limits, heading to New York for the Columbia Challenge next weekend.
