Opening Tip
The Saint Joseph's men's basketball team plays the first of two on the road, heading to North Carolina to face the Davidson Wildcats on January 21. Tipoff from Belk Arena is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with the game on ESPN+.

Double Time (Part I)
With his season-high tying 22 points against VCU, Xzayvier Brown has scored in double figures in all 15 games he has played this season. The sophomore is one of only 10 players in the A-10 to have 15 or more double figure scoring games this season. Of those 10, Brown is one of only three who has scored in double figures in each game he has played this season, joining Robbie Avila of Saint Louis and Sebastian Thomas of Rhode Island.

Double Time (Part II)
By scoring 12 points against the Rams, Erik Reynolds II reached double figures for the 95th time in his career. He is one of 12 active Division I players with 95 or more games with 10+ points. Of that group, Reynolds and Tucker DeVries of West Virginia, are the only ones to do it in four seasons. The Temple Hills, Md. native is the only player on the list to have accomplished the feat in four years at the same school.

Holding Onto The Ball
Saint Joseph's committed a season-low six turnovers against VCU on Friday. Prior to that game, the Hawks lowest total was also an A-10 Friday Night Showcase contest with seven on January 3 at Saint Louis. It was the sixth time this year SJU has been in single digits in giveaways.

Protecting The Rim
With five more blocks against VCU, St. Joe's remained in the top-10 nationally in blocks per game, currently ranking seventh with 5.67 per contest. Leading the way is Justice Ajogbor with 33, the fifth-highest total in the A-10. Ajogbor has been on a tear blocking shots lately, with multiple blocks in seven consecutive games, including a season-high four swats in each of the last two games. The graduate student from Benin City, Nigeria has 21 blocks in the span. Ajogbor isn't the only one turning aside opposition attempts. Rasheer Fleming is close behind with 26 and seven Hawks have five or more blocks on the year.

Consistency Is Key
There have been 922 instances this season where an Atlantic 10 player has scored 10 or more points in a game. As previously mentioned, only 10 student-athletes have done it 15 or more times this season. Four of them are a part of Tuesday's game. Xzayvier Brown and Rasheer Fleming have 15 such games for SJU. Bobby Durkin has 16 for the Wildcats with Reed Bailey claiming 15. Saint Joseph's and Davidson are the only two teams in the A-10 to have multiple players with 15 or more 10+ point games.

Cleaning The Glass
With his 14 rebound effort against VCU, Rasheer Fleming improved to 9.3 boards per game, ranking second in the conference and 25th nationally. He has four contests with 14 or more boards and  eight games in double figures in rebounding. The junior from Camden has been even better at making the opposition go one-and-done, ranking in the top-15 in the country in defensive rebounds a contest at 7.11. He took 11 off the defensive glass against the Rams. His 20 caroms against Texas are tied for the second most in the NCAA this season against a Division I opponent

Scouting Report
Davidson enters play 12-6 overall and is 2-3 in the A-10 following a 92-90 loss against Rhode Island on Saturday. The Wildcats dropped both games on their recent road trip, by a total of five points. They were picked 12th in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll.

Leading the offense for Davidson is the tandem of Reed Bailey, Bobby Durkin and Conner Kochera, all of whom average better than 14 points per game. Bailey leads the pack with 19.4 a contest while Durkin and Kochera are at 15.9 and 14.7, respectively. Bailey is a triple-threat for DC, also leading the team in rebounding (6.7) and assists (67).

Two areas that have propelled the success for the Wildcats this year are their ability to shoot from distance and to hold on to the basketball. Davidson tops the A-10 at 36.8 percent from three-point range and is the only team in the conference with less than 10 turnovers an outing. Additionally, it has been dominant at home, going 10-0 in Belk Arena. Their 10 wins at home without a loss are tied for the fifth most in the country.

While turnovers and three-point shooting have propelled the Wildcats on offense, they have also marked areas of concern on the other side of the ball. DC is second-to-last in the A-10, allowing teams to connect on 35.8 percent from beyond the arc. It is at the bottom of the conference with just 10.72 turnovers forced a game. The Wildcats are in the bottom-50 nationally in both categories.

Matt McKillop is in his third season as the head coach at Davidson with a record of 31-33. The 2006 alumnus is in his 17th season overall on the bench for the Wildcats and has been on the bench for five NCAA tournament appearances with the team, most recently in 2018.

All-Time Series
Tuesday is the 27th meeting between the Hawks and Wildcats. Davidson holds a 15-11 series advantage and has won  10 of 13, dating to the 2015-16 season SJU snapped a four-game losing streak to the Wildcats on the final day of the regular season last year. The Hawks are looking for their first win at Davidson since 1971.

Last Time Against Davidson
Rasheer Fleming had a then career-high 23 points as Saint Joseph's locked up a First Round bye in the A-10 Championship with an 89-71 win on March 9, 2024. In addition to his scoring, Fleming added nine rebounds and four blocks while going 7-for-10 from the floor. Erik Reynolds II tallied 19 with Xzayvier Brown contributing 15 and seven assists. SJU trailed by five at the break, but outscored Davidson 51-32 in the second half. The Hawks shot 51.7 percent and held the Wildcats to 10-for-33 from the field in the final 20 minutes.

The 300
While he may not have been be yelling "This is Sparta," as the shot went down, the 300th three-pointer of his career with 5:56 to go in the first half against Loyola Chicago put Erik Reynolds II on two exclusive lists. He became the second ever Hawk to record 300 career treys, joining Langston Galloway who delivered 343 from 2011-14. He is one of 13 active Division I player with 300 or more three-pointers. He enters Tuesday with 303 career treys. The senior is one of two players on that list to accomplish the feat in four seasons, joining Reyne Smith of Louisville.
