Men’s Track and Field Conclude Action at Dr. Sander Scorcher

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Saint Joseph's men's track and field team wrapped up a two-day meet at The Armory, competing in the Dr. Sander Scorcher on Saturday hosted by Columbia University.
 

DAY ONE
  • Brendan Hefferan hit the track running in the open section of the 3000m to win the section with a time of 8:31.03. Aidan Doherty came across the line in 8:51.23.
  • Four Hawks raced in the invitational section of the 800m, with senior Graham Phillips (1:54.07)  and Elijah Smith (1:54.56) leading the pack with less than half a second separating the two. Joshua Thaler finished close behind in 1:56.73, while Jayden Greene closed out the section for the Hawks in 1:59.33. In the open section, Tommy Silvester grabbed the second win of the day with a time of 1:55.16.
  • Kicking off the 400m in the invitational section, Benjamin Henry won his heat with a time of 48.89s to place ninth overall. In the same heat, teammate Darren Cammauf crossed the line in 49.45s. In his first collegiate 400m, freshman Chris Manzo (49.94s) led the Hawks in the seeded section to place eighth. Luke Noss and James Mackey Jr. finished close behind with times of 50.52s and 50.98s. Jake Carrubba closed out the seeded section for the Hawks in 52.25s. 
 
DAY TWO
  • The Hawks began day two in the open section of the mile, Josh Forrest finishing 10th with a time of 4:15.72. Michael Glavin crossed the line with a time of 4:18.04, while Tomek Przybylak rounded out the trio with a 4:19.40 finish.
  • Benjamin Henry finished fifth in the seeded 200m, surging to a 21.87s finish. Henry's time was just .03s off a top four finish. Jake Carrubba was the lone Hawk in the open 200m, finishing with a time of 23.48s.
  • Will Rau was the lone competitor for the Hawks in the mile, finishing with a time of 4:13.01.
  • In the final event of the day, Anthony Gargani led a group of Hawks in the 5000m to finish fifth with a time of 14:23.89. Colton Johnson added a scoring finish of 14:30.81 to place eighth, while Jay Shanahan rounded out the top 10 with a time of 14:42.86. Kevin Jumper crossed the finish line with a time of 15:02.67.
 
UP NEXT
The Hawks return to The Armory next weekend to take part in the Scarlet Knight Open hosted by Rutgers on Friday, January 25.
