Opening Tip
The Saint Joseph's men's basketball team plays its final game in November, facing Princeton in the Jersey Jam on Sunday, November 30. Tipoff from CURE Insurance Arena is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

Swiping Left (Part I)
Saint Joseph's turned aside 10 Rutgers-Camden shots on Tuesday night, its first time this season it had double-digit blocks in a game. Last year, the Hawks accomplished the feat four times, against Navy, Coppin State, Fordham and Dayton, with the last one coming in the A-10 quarterfinals. Prior to last year, SJU hadn't blocked 10 or more shots in a game since January 12, 2013 against Duquesne.

Swiping Left (Part II)
Any discussion of blocked shots involving SJU has to begin with Justice Ajogbor, who has 97 blocks in 41 career games with the Hawks. Combined with the 97 swats he had at Harvard, Ajogbor enters Sunday's game third on the Division I active career blocks list at 194, trailing only Felix Okpara (205) from Tennessee and Justin Abson (201) of Georgia. His 86 rejections last season were fifth nationally in NCAA D1.

Stock Up On Windex
Saint Joseph's pulled down 58 rebounds against RUC. It is the first time SJU hauled in more than 50 boards in a contest since December 14, 2016 when it had 51 against Princeton. The total is the second-most in a game by an Atlantic 10 team this year, behind 62 for Fordham against Mount St. Mary's. St. Joe's program record for single-game rebounds is 83 in a 99-72 win against Saint Peter's on February 28, 1962 at The Palestra.

Team Effort
12 players scored for St. Joe's against the Scarlet Raptors on Tuesday. There were five players who tallied double figures, led by 16 each from Jaiden Glover-Toscano and Jaden Smith. Smith's total was a career high. Al Amadou, Mekai Johnson, Will Lange and Billy Rayer all scored their first points of the season. For Rayer, the three-pointer he connected on delivered the first points of his career.

The Road Not Taken
The 2025-26 non-conference schedule sees St. Joe's board planes, trains and automobiles more than it has in recent memory. SJU travels 6,021 miles for its road and neutral site games this season, not counting games within the city of Philadelphia. Last year, the Hawks traveled just 192 miles in non-conference play, taking on Texas Tech and Texas in the Legends Classic in Brooklyn. The 6k+ miles Saint Joseph's checks in at for non-conference games this season are more than the past three seasons combined.

Starting the Holiday Season Early
The Hawks have been in a giving mood early as for the second consecutive game, the Hawks delivered 25 assists with its performance against the Scarlet Raptors. SJU also has 25 assists at UNLV on November 20. The 25 dimes against the Runnin' Rebels came on 26 made baskets. The 96.2 percent assist rate is the highest in NCAA Division I this season, topping the 96.0 percent (24-of-25) by Niagara against Delaware State on November 10. Three St. Joe's players rank in the top-25 in the A-10 in assists per game. At 17.3 helpers per contest, the Hawks are in the top-60 nationally. The 61.9 percent of made field goals with an assist ranks 39th in NCAA Division I.

Home Sweet Hagan
Returning to Hawk Hill may be just the remedy SJU needs as the Hawks are 150-86, a winning percentage of .636 in Michael J. Hagan '85 Arena. The games have been particularly good since the beginning of the 2023-24 season with the Hawks going 30-8 (.789). The 27 victories from 2023-25 are the most in a two-year stretch since the building was renovated and renamed Hagan Arena in 2009.

Something Has To Give
Both Saint Joseph's and Princeton have been excellent art home this season, but have struggled to find wins away from either Hagan Arena or Jadwin Gymnasium. The teams are a combined 6-0 on their home courts in 2025-26. They are, however, 0-9 away from home, going 0-6 on the road and 0-3 at neutral sites.

Scouting Report
  • Princeton enters play 3-6 overall and is coming off a 79-74 loss against Vermont in the Terry's Chocolate ESPN Events Invitational in Kissimmee, Fla. The Tigers were picked fourth in the Ivy League preseason poll.
  • Leading the offense for Princeton is Dalen Davis at 16.5 points per game, up from 9.7 PPG a season ago. Davis did not, however, play in any of the games in Kissimmee. Also averaging double figures in scoring are Jackson Hicke (13.3) and Jack Stanton (10.6). Malik Abdullahi pulls in 5.8 rebounds an outing. Davis has 19 assists with Hicke dishing 18.
  • The Tigers like to take their threes, ranking third in the Ivy League and 65th nationally at 28.0 attempts from beyond the arc per game. They have also done a decent job of hitting them, connecting on 9.3 of their shots from distance a contest.
  • An area of concern for Princeton is their ability to protect the rim, ranking in the bottom-30 nationally with just 1.8 blocks per game. They also don't shoot particularly well from the field overall, ranking 297th at 42.4 percent.
  • Alumnus Mitch Henderson is in his 14th season as the head coach at Princeton with a record of 254-139 in Central Jersey. He has guided the Tigers to seven 20-win seasons and a pair of NCAA tournament appearances.

All-Time Series
Sunday is the 20th all-time meeting between Saint Joseph's and Princeton with the Hawks holding a slim 10-9 lead. Princeton won the most recent meeting between the schools last year. Prior to that, SJU won five in a row from 2015-23.

Last Time Against Princeton
Xavian Lee recorded the first triple-double in the 123-year history of Princeton men's basketball as the Tigers topped the Hawks, 77-69 on December 3, 2024. Rasheer Fleming led St. Joe's with 25 points. Derek Simpson scored 15 and dished six assists. The Tigers built a lead of as many as 12 in the first half, but SJU came back to go in front midway through the second half. With the game tied at 58-58 with 5:35 to go in the contest, Princeton took the lead for good on a three-pointer.

Towering Over The Competition
With Justice Ajogbor (6'10"), Jaden Smith (6'11") and Steven Solano (7'0"), the Hawks' roster is loaded with height. Only eight opponents for St. Joe's have three or more players who are 6'10" or taller, led by five on Duquesne's roster. Three teams – Princeton, Coppin State and Rutgers-Camden – do not have a player on their squad that is taller than 6'9".

Next Up
St. Joe's takes on either Temple or Villanova in the Big 5 Classic on Saturday, December 6. Tipoff from Xfinity Mobile Arena is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. with the game to air on NBC Sports Philadelphia.
