Women’s Track and Field Opens Indoor Season at Penn

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's track and field team opened its season at the Penn Opener on Saturday afternoon inside The Ott Center.
 
SATURDAY TRACK EVENTS
  • Majken Lutzen got the day off to a strong start for the Hawks in the mile run, setting a personal best of 5:00.37 to take first. Quinn O'Brien followed closely in second at 5:01.52, while Karin Dobiasch placed fourth in 5:08.03.
  • Felicia Oh ran a personal-best 9.20 in the women's 60m hurdles, placing 19th overall.
  • Mariam Koita just missed a spot in the finals of the 60m, finishing ninth in 7.70. Kendall Cooper made her collegiate debut, placing 11th in 7.74, while Olivia Binns finished with the same time. Tamasen Allen Bey also debuted, crossing in at 7.75. Maya Adams set a personal best with a time of 7.89, and Cecilia Abruzzo added a personal best of 7.99.
  • Samantha Korck led the Hawks in the 600m, setting a personal best of 1:36.03 for seventh place. Alyssa Bloxton followed in 14th with a time of 1:39.28, while Sydney Wynn rounded out the group at 1:44.62.
  • Tess Crossan led the Hawks in the 1000m, setting a personal best of 2:49.50 to take third. Carolyn Smith also set a personal best, finishing 16th in 3:03.61, while Sara Sherlock rounded out the group in 19th with a time of 3:11.00.
  • Kendall Cooper led the Hawks in the 300m with a time of 40.62 in her collegiate debut. Samantha Walz followed with a 41.20 finish, while Olivia Beddow set a personal best of 41.66. Taylor Rosen also debuted with a time of 42.36, and Alessandra Schuster crossed in 43.54. Stephanie Cristinizio finished in 43.77, with Rylee Barnhart rounded out the group in 44.41.
  • The Hawks closed out the meet in the 4x400m relay, with Crossan, Lutzen, Korck, and Dobiasch finishing in 3:50.64. Rosen, Schuster, Allen Bey, and Barnhart added a time of 4:05.63.
SATURDAY FIELD EVENTS
  • Lily Ferguson finished 16th in the long jump, posting a best mark of 5.38m on her final attempt.

The Hawks return to Penn on January 10 for the Penn Select.
