Men’s Track and Field Produce Strong First Day at Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Saint Joseph's men's track and field team produced a pair of scoring finishes and nine qualifiers for tomorrow's finals in the opening day of the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships hosted inside of the Virginia Beach Sports Center.

TRACK RESULTS
  • Benjamin Henry started his day off with an omen of things to come, pacing the field in the 400m prelims to earn top spot and a place in tomorrow's final. Jake Carrubba finished just under half a second from a qualifying spot, his time of 49.76s narrowly missing out on the top eight.
  • Half of tomorrow's field in the 500m will be wearing the Crimson and Gray as Luke Noss led the group of Hawks with a time of 1:04.69 to place fourth in the event. Darren Cammauf finished just behind with a fifth-place time of 1:04.74. A pair of freshman in Tommy Silvester (1:05.18) and Chris Manzo (1:05.28) delivered the final two spots for the Hawks.
  • Henry returned to the track in the 60m dash, cruising to a fourth-place finish as his time of 6.85s was enough to earn him a spot in his second final on Saturday.
  • Two more Hawks qualified in the 800m as Jayden Greene earned a spot in the finals with a time of 1:55.71 to take the top time in his heat. Joshua Thaler was fastest remaining qualifier, his time of 1:53.83 earning him seventh place. Graham Phillips matched Green's time of 1:55.71, but fell out of the top eight by not finishing in the top two of his individual heat.
  • Will Rau became the second Hawk to take the top time in his event as the junior qualified first in the 1000m with a time of 2:26.86. Tomek Przybylak missed a qualifying time by .32s, finishing with an effort of 2:28.68.
  • Henry made it three-for-three in qualifying after placing second in the 200m prelims with a time of 21.47s.
  • The Hawks concluded Friday's action with a five-point effort in the distance-medley relay. The team of Rau, Carrubba, Przybylak and Josh Forrest raced to a time of 9:55.90 to finish fourth.
 
FIELD RESULTS
  • Cameron Campbell-Miller secured the first points for the Hawks, finishing sixth in the long jump. His best attempt came on his third leap as the junior produced a 6.94m effort.
