TALLAHASSEE, FL (3/13/04) -- The Hawk softball team played three games on Saturday, two against the fifth ranked team in the country and another against a squad that just dropped out of the Top 25. Unfortunately, SJU could not plate a run in dropping a 2-0 decision to Texas A&M and 7-0 and 14-0 contests to #5 Florida State.
Senior
Dana Travis threw admirably against the Aggies, scattering seven hits and allowing only one earned run. But despite seven hits offensively, none drove in any runs in a 2-0 defeat. Juniors
Megan Richardson and
Lynn Ravert each had two base knocks for the Hawks.
Despite the 7-0 loss to FSU in the final game of pool play, Saint Joseph's advanced to the Gold Bracket quartefinals. Senior
Lindsey McNamara had SJU's only hit in the defeat.
St. Joe's ran out of gas against the Seminoles in the quarterfinals, losing 14-0. FSU's Casey Hunter tossed a perfect game, the second thrown against SJU during Spring Break in which the Crimson and Gray played seven games against top 25 action and fourth against teams in the top six.
The Hawks drop to 5-11 on the season, while FSU improves to 25-3.
