BOSTON, MA (01/25/03) - The 4x400 relay team broke their own school record and the Saint Joseph's men's track team had five IC4A qualifiers at Saturday's Terrier Invitational. The event, hosted by Boston University, not only featured collegiate athletes, but also athletes representing Adidas, Mizuno and other club teams.
The 4x400 relay team comprised of junior Nick Carras, freshman Andrew Thomas, senior Jerry Puryear, and sophomore Doug Rick broke their school record set earlier this season with a time of 3:13.72, breaking the mark of 3:13.81. It was good for third in the invitational event.
Senior Brian Rosetti also competed in the invitational 3000 meter run, qualifying for his third IC4A event with a time of 8:24.35. Although 14th overall in the race, Rosetti was seventh among collegiate runners.
The distance medley team ran a time of 10:10.70 to reach IC4A standards and finished fourth overall, while freshman Andre Laboy narrowly missed qualifying with a time of 8:30.30 in the invitational 3,000 meters.
In the open events, Carras placed fourth overall in the 200 meter dash (22.19) and Thomas earned an eighth place in the 400m (49.04). Both qualified for the IC4As. Freshman Mike DiDio earned a ninth place finish in the one mile run (4:22.54) and sophomore Brad Schmidt placed 13th in the 800m (1:57.01).
