HAWK MEN DELIVER TOP FINISHES AT LAFAYETTE

EASTON, PA (4/17/04) - Four first place finishes highlighted a successful day on the oval as the Saint Joseph's men's track team tuned up for the Penn Relays with a strong outing at the Lafayette Invitational. SJU picked up top finishes from Andrew Thomas in the 400, Dave Masse in the 5000, Collin Martin in the Steeplechase and Jerry Puryear in the 400m hurdles.

Puryear delivered the days most impressive time, posting an Atlantic 10 season-best effort with a time of 52.85. Thomas, meanwhile topped the field in a time of 47.47 in the 400, Martin won the steeplechase by a 3.0 second margin in a time of 9:27.00 and Masse coasted to victory by 24 seconds in 15:15.10.

Additional top finishes were turned in by Jerome Harris (15.05) who placed third in the 100m hurdles and Chris Koneski who finished fourth in the 400m in 48.68.

Andrew Berta (16:12.60) was fifth in the 5000, Joe Mohn (4:00.20) was sixth at 1500m and Chris Kessler (1:56.45) was seventh in the 800m.
