CUNIC NAMED TO ALL-CONFERENCE SOFTBALL TEAM

AMHERST, MA (5/12/04) - Saint Joseph's junior catcher Alicia Cunic was named to the Atlantic 10 all-conference team in voting among the league's coaches. Cunic leads the team in batting (.330) and homeruns (six) despite missing 14 games earlier this season due to a concussion suffered in Florida. It is the first time she has been honored on the All-A-10 team. A three-year starter, Cunic has drive in 18 runs and socked six doubles, both good for second on the team. Her .593 slugging percentage leads the team as well. In conference games, the Allentown, Pa. native is batting .323 with a homerun and seven RBI. Cunic is a career .318 hitter and has 19 homers, placing her third on the all-time SJU list. Saint Joseph's (19-27, 8-4 A-10), the third seed, will take on second-seeded Temple on Thursday in the Atlantic 10 Championships at the University of Massachusetts. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. and the action can be heard live on sjuhawks.com.
