PHILADELPHIA (05/29/03) - Saint Joseph's University senior Brandie Adams has been named Third Team Verizon Academic All-America. It marks the second straight year that the Hawk pitcher has earned the honor.
Adams, who compiled an 8-3 record on the mound for SJU with a 2.77 ERA, finished her academic career with a 3.96 cumulative grade point average as an elementary education major. The Newtown, PA. native (Council Rock HS) started 12 games, completing seven. She tossed one shutout on the season, a two-hit 4-0 win over Rhode Island. The team co-captain also set a new career high with 11 strikeouts in a 6-2 win over St. Bonaventure. Earning Atlantic 10 Conference Pitcher of the Week honors for her efforts.
For her career, Adams ranks fifth on SJU's all-time list with 37 victories and nine shutouts while placing fourth in school history with 242 strikeouts.
