NEW YORK (1/09/04) - Paced by its traditional strength in the middle distances the Saint Joseph's men's track team returned to indoor competition at the Fordham Invitational at the Armory. Sophomore
Andrew Thomas and junior
Brad Schmidt led SJU winning the 400 and 800m, respectively. The Hawks also received a first place finish from the 4x400 relay.

Doug Rick, senior
Jerry Puryear, and the 4x400 relay team each posted IC4A qualifying times. Thomas (48.65) and Rick's (1:04.40) times were the fastest in the Atlantic 10 this year. The 4x400, which featured Rick, Puryear,
Nick Carras and
Chris Koneski, also was the A-10's best (3:18.00).
Kile Garguilo (49.87) narrowly missed IC4A qualifying in the 400, finishing third behind Thomas.
Other top efforts from SJU included third place finishes by freshman
Jerome Harris (8.43) in the 60m High Hurdles and Richie Anderson (4:22.13) in thte mile run. The Distance Medley Relay of
Collin Martin,
Joe Bieret,
Mike DiDio and
Teddy Meyers, placed second (10:31.42).
