FORMER HAWK MALLON GETS BIG FIVE HALL OF FAME NOD

PHILADELPHIA (01/08/02) - Amy Mallon is the latest Saint Joseph's Hawk to be inducted into the Philadelphia Big Five Hall of Fame. Mallon earned Big 5 Player of the Year honors in 1993 after leading the Hawks to the City Series championship (4-0) that year. Mallon will be honored along with Temple's Eddie Jones and Aaron McKie, La Salle's Chrissie (Donahue) Doogan, Penn's Bob Weinhauer and Jack Scheuer of the Associated Press on Friday, January 25 at the annual Big 5 Hall of Fame luncheon, and then again at the Penn-Saint Joseph's men's basketball game on Saturday, January 26. Both events will take place at The Palestra. An honorable mention All-American and Academic All-District selection, Mallon also earned first-team All-Big 5 and Atlantic 10 honors that year. She finished her career with 1,384 points, which included three seasons at the University of Richmond. After graduation from Saint Joseph's, Mallon went on to play for the Philadelphia Rage in the ABL and also briefly returned to her alma mater in 1996-97 as an assistant coach.
