ATLANTA, GA (3/11/04) -- Saint Joseph's played its fourth straight game against a NFCA Top 25 opponent and like Wednesday, the Hawks came away with two losses. #24 Georgia Tech (21-5) held SJU to six hits in the doubleheader in sweeping the Crimson and Gray (3-7), 9-1 and 6-0.
The Ramblin Wreck got on the board early in the opener, scoring two runs in the first off junior starter
Cara Deldeo. After a scoreless second inning, Georiga Tech posted a three spot and added two more in the fourth to take a 7-0 lead.
In the top of the fifth, junior
Lynn Ravert doubled with one out. Freshman
Christa Lane Hooper ran for Ravert and scored on a Deldeo groundball back to the pitcher.
The hosts scored two more in the bottom of the fifth off Deldeo to enforce the mercy rule.
SJU hung around in the nightcap as freshman hurler
Lauren Hughes kept the visitors close. Hughes tossed three scoreless innings to open the game, allowing only two hits, before the Ramblin Wreck scored four runs in the fourth. Georgia Tech added two runs in the sixth to account for the 6-0 final.

The Hawks travel to the Sunshine State for Friday's Florida State Invitational doubleheader. Saint Joseph's takes on Robert Morris at 2 p.m. and Central Michigan at 4 p.m.
