Hawks Rout Bonnies, 9-1

PHILADELPHIA, PA (03/24/01) - The St. Joseph's softball team utilized a five-run inning in the fifth to claim a 9-1 win over Atlantic 10 for St. Bonaventure. The Hawks took a 1-0 first inning lead when Teresa Andreani plated Missy Rhoades who reached on a walk. SBU tied the game in the third but freshman Lindsay McNamara smacked a solo homerun over the rightfield fence to put SJU up 2-1. The Hawks (5-8) used a big fifth inning, scoring five runs to claim the win. After SJU loaded the bases, Heather Chapman hit a two-run double to make it 7-1. Brandi Adams scored on a wild pitch and Andreani had an RBI single to end the game 9-1. The game was halted due to the 8-run rule. Chapman, Adams, Andreani, and freshman Sandra Carroll all had 2 hits for SJU. Adams claimed her third win of the season, pitching a complete game, striking out five while surrendering six hits.
