HAWKS PLACE FOUR ON ATLANTIC 10 OUTDOOR TRACK ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS

PHILADELPHIA, PA (5/11/04) - Saint Joseph's placed four student-athletes, three men and one women, on the Atlantic 10's 2004 Outdoor Track and Field Academic All-Conference teams in voting conducted among the League's sports information directors. Seniors Nick Carras and Kile Garguilo and junior Collin Martin were tabbed to the men's squad, while junior Mary Crossin was selected to the women's team.

Also named to the league's Academic All-Conference teams indoor, Crossin boasts a 3.53 grade point average in elemantary education, while Carras has a 3.49 GPA in pharmaceutical marketing. Both first time honorees, Garguilo has a 3.32 GPA in accounting and Martin a 3.45 in Finance.

On the men's side, SJU tied Massachusetts by having three individuals selected. Joining Carras, Garguilo and Martin on the team were Kwesi Frimpong-Boateng, Jonathan Korhonen and John O'Neil of UMass; Duquesne's Ryan Bender; Tim Caramore of Richmond; and La Salle's John Rehm and Todd Witzleben.

Crossin was joined on the women's outdoor track & field Academic All-Conference team by Shea McMillan, Sarah Fetterman and Melissa Stewart of Duquesne; Alison Belicose and Diane Schreiber of Richmond; Temple's Jaweia Campbell and Rachel Clinton; Rhode Island's Pascale Delaunay; and Kelly Pohlman of Dayton.

In a repeat of the indoor season, McMillan of Duquesne and Massachusetts' Frimpong-Boateng were named Atlantic 10 Student-Athletes of the Year in women's and men's outdoor track & field, respectively.
