NEW YORK, NY- The St. Joseph's men's track
team competed at the Fordham/St. John's
Invitational on Friday, February 9. The Hawks
placed first among 15 schools which included
squads from Albany, La Salle, Rider, Rutgers
and the hosts Fordham and St. John's.
Junior
James Scott enjoyed a record setting
day, setting a new school record in the 55
meter dash while claiming first in both the 55
and 200 meter dashes. Scott's time of 6.36
seconds in the 55m broke his old record of 6.42 which he set last year.
Freshman
Andy Craycraft continues to impress in his rookie campaign,
winning the 500 meter run with a time of 1:04.06, second fastest in the
Atlantic 10. The Weston, CT native also teamed up with
Marc Maccario,
Mike McCabe, and
Geoff Valentine to win the 4x400 in a time of
3:18.07.
Other individual highlights include first place finishes by
Karl Savage in
the mile (4:07.39) and
Brian Rosetti in the 1000 meter run (2:26.69).
Sophomore
Jerry Puryear placed second in the 500 meter run (1:05.13)
while junior
Ben Koch took home bronze in the mile (4:14.82).
The Hawks next compete on Saturday, February 17, when they travel to
Rhode Island to take part in the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships
