CHARLOTTSVILLE, VA (4/13/02) - The Saint Joseph's men's track team, led by sophomore
Andy Craycraft, competed in the University of Virginia Invitational this past weekend. SJU finished fifth out of 16 teams and bested competitors from Lafayette, James Madison and University of Richmond. Host Virginia won the event while Rutgers, Monmouth and Georgetown rounded out the top five places.
Craycraft finished second in the 400 meter with a time of 48.24 seconds. He bested a 46-runner field. Junior
Tim Fisher also fared well for the Hawks, placing second in the 5000 meter (15:02.80). Freshman newcomer
Tim Curran turned in an eighth place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 55.60. That event's field consisted of 34 competitors.
Marc Maccario also recorded a strong finish for the Crimson and Gray in the 200-meter event placing ninth with a time of 21.86 seconds.
Other highlights for the Hawks included a first place finish for the 4x400 relay team with a time of 3:12.00.
Next up for the Hawk men is the Lafayette Invitational on Saturday, April 20.
