PRINCETON, N.J. (05/01/03)- The schedule for the Princeton Invitational has been altered to accomodate the completion of the Ivy League game between the host Tigers and Brown. That softball game, which has major implications for the Ivy League title, was halted on April 12 due to darkness. It will resume at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 3 at Brown.
The Princeton-Brown game was called in the top of the ninth inning with the Tigers up 8-5, two outs, and a runner on first base. If Princeton holds the Bears in the bottom of the ninth, it wins the sole Ivy League title. If Princeton loses, it shares the title with Cornell and will play the Big Red in a best-of-three series to determine the NCAA automatic bid.
Because the league game takes precedence over the non-conference tournament scheduled at Princeton this weekend, Princeton was forced to adjust the game times of its invitational.
The new schedule is listed below:
Saturday, May 3:
Rider vs. St. Joe's - 1:00pm
Rider vs. St. Joe's - 3:00pm
Rider vs. PRINCETON - 5:00pm
The Sunday games remain the same as originally scheduled.
