PHILADELPHIA (4/27/02) - Saint Joseph's won the Frank Wetzler 4x400 relay at the Penn Relays on Friday afternoon, highlighting three days of competition for the Hawks at the prestigious event. The 4x400 team of senior Marc Maccario, junior Jerry Puryear, sophomore Kile Garguilo and freshman Eric Chekemian captured the gold medal for SJU in a time of 3:15.95. Senior Ben Koch also fared well at the relays, placing third at the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 9:00.35. The Hawks will next compete at the Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5, at the University of Richmond.
