SJU PLACES FOURTH AT LAFAYETTE SIX-WAY

EASTON, PA (03/29/03) - Saint Joseph's had four first place finishes and placed fourth at the Lafayette Six-Way on Saturday in Easton. Times were impacted by the cold, wet weather that invaded the Northeast over the weekend. Freshman Andrew Thomas won the 400m dash with a time of 48.0, as did freshman Rich Anderson in the 800m (1:56.1). Senior Brian Rosetti captured gold in the 1500m with a time of 3:55.57 and senior Jerry Puryear was a winner in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.6 to round out the first place finishers. Junior sprinter Nick Carras turned in a third place (200m, 22.0) and fifth place (100m, 10.9) and sophomore Brad Schmidt placed second in the 800m with a time of 1:56.6. Three Hawks found the top five in the 1500m. Rosetti, freshman Mike DiDio (3:57.62) and freshman Andre Laboy (4:00.99) placed first, third and fourth respectively. Junior Rich Cullin was a second-place finisher in the 3000m (8:56.3), followed by freshman David Masse (8:58.0) and Rob Hewitt (9:03.2). Sophomore Collin Martin finished second in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:40.80 and the 4x400 relay team finished third with a time of 3:20.8 to round out the scoring. SJU travels to Durham, N.C. this Friday to compete at the Duke Invitational.
