SOFTBALL REBOUNDS TO TAKE TWO AT REBEL GAMES

KISSIMMEE (03/10/03) - Saint Joseph's rebounded from a bad Monday in Florida to defeat Yale, 6-3, and Butler, 1-0, on Tuesday at the Rebel Games to up its record to 3-2 on the year. Senior Brandie Adams, a 2002 Verizon Academic All-America, looked strong again on the mound for the Hawks. Adams, who pitched three innings of scoreless ball in a rainout against Robert Morris on Sunday, allowed just two hits and no earned runs over five innings in picking up the win over Yale. Adams, who struck out three in the game, also did it with the bat as well, contributing two hits and two RBI. Sophomore Cara Deldeo, who pitched the final two innings to notch her first save of the season, also delivered two hits in the game. Junior Dana Travis led the way in the second game, pitching a two-hit shutout over Butler. Travis, who set a school record with nine shutouts last year, struck out five in the game. The Hawks scored the game's lone run in the sixth as junior Lindsey McNamara double home Deldeo, who had singled to reach base. SJU is off on Wednesday before playing Appalachian State and Indiana-Purdue on Thursday
