HAWKS OPEN 2001-02 TRACK SEASON AT LAFAYETTE

EASTON, PA - After an exciting cross country season came to an end, the Saint Joseph's men's track team went inside to open their 2001-02 track season at the Lafayette Invitational. At the six-team event held at the Allan P. Kirby sports center, the SJU men and women posted some fine performances. On the men's side, the Hawk's had three individual winners, sophomore Andy Craycraft at 440 yards, senior James Scott at 300 yards and junior Matt Lewis at the two mile. The team's mile relay placed second with a time of 3:25. Freshmen Eric Chekemian (1:15.0) and Tim Curran (1:16.5) placed second and third respectively in the 600 yard for SJU in their first collegiate competition. To round out the team's top performances, sophomore Kile Garguilo placed third for the hawks in the 440 yard witha time of 51.1, just one second off of Craycraft. The Hawks will compete Saturday at Princeton.
