PHILADELPHIA (04/14/03) - Saint Joseph's softball players Cara Deldeo and Jill Clementi have been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Player and Rookie of the Week for the week ending April 13. Deldeo batted .750 (6-of-8) in a two-game sweep of St. Bonaventure on Sunday. The Hawk shortsop helped to end the Bonnies' ten-game win streak by going 4-for-4 from the plate in game one and 2-for-4 in game two. The Dagsboro, Del. native opened game one with a lead-off homer and then added two doubles and a single in the team's 5-2 win. She roped another double in the second game, a 6-2 Hawk win. For the series Deldeo compiled a 1.38 slugging percentage. and upped her battng average from .300 to .346 for the season. Clementi, who picked up her second A-10 Rookie of the Week honor of the season, went 4-for-6 (.667) from the plate in the two game series against St. Bonaventure. The Bloomfield, N.J. native went 2-for3 in both contests and recorded one RBI. The Hawk third baseman currently leads SJU with a .361 batting average on this year.
