Ft. Myers, FL (03/15/02) - It was a little tougher for the Saint Joseph's Hawks on their last day of competition at the Gene Cusic Classic, but the result was the same. SJU defeated Albany, 2-0, and St. Francis-NY, 3-2, to complete its Florida stay with a perfect 10-0 mark, a school-best start.
Sophomore
Dana Travis tossed a three-hitter in the first game, striking out eight while allowing just three hits. SJU picked up an unearned run in the first inning as senior
Kristin Nau scored on a passed ball. Senior
Desiree McGhie's RBI double in the seventh provided an insurance run.
In the nightcap, the Hawks fell behind 2-0 as the SJU fielders committed four costly errors in the first two innings. SJU chipped away at the St. Francis lead, picking up single runs in the third, fourth and seventh innings.
Senior
Megan Brown tripled in the third and was driven home by an RBI single off the bat of freshman
Cara Deldeo. Freshman

Sophomore
Lindsey McNamara, who had belted three homers over the previous two days, drove in Deldeo with the winning run in the seventh with a two-out single.
