NEW YORK (1/09/04) - Turning in a strong overall effort the Saint Joseph's University women's track team bested the nine team field to win the Fordham Invitational at the Armory. The Crimson and Gray received three individual first place finishes from junior
Kelly Victory in the 800 (2:18.77), sophomore
Andria Smythe in the long jump (17' 8 3/4") and freshman Stacy Cronin in the 400 (59.74), while also sweeping the relays.
The 4x400 of
Amanda Guthridge,
Julie Lentz,
Sarah Limbach and
Colleen Ladden topped the field in a time of 4:01.79. The 4x800 of
Erin Kelly,
Rebecca Powell,
Mary Crossin and Victory, meanwhile covered the track in an A-10 best time of 9:45.68. SJU's Distance Medley Relay of
Maddie Bell,
Lauren Manfredi,
Jackie Twomey, and
Meryl Nash also won its event in 13:16.61.
Other top finishes for St. Joe's were delivered by senior
Amy Manwaring in the 3000m (10:21.09) and
Sarah Click in the high jump (5'0"), who both placed second. Third place finishes were delivered by Marry Crossin in the 1000m (3:05.68),
Erin Blaustein in the long jump (16' 4 1/4") and Smythin in the triple jump (36' 2 1/4").
