SAINT JOSEPH'S UNIVERSITY HONORS TOP SENIOR SCHOLAR ATHLETES

PHILADELPHIA (7/16/03) - Saint Joseph's University seniors Enrico Capitan, Brandie Adams and Jance Hoy have been named the recipients of the George Senesky Award given annually to the top male and female senior scholar athletes. "Enrico, Brandie and Jance exemplify the best of what Saint Joseph's athletics is about," praises Associate Vice President/Athletic Director Don DiJulia. "Their accomplishments both on the field and in the classroom represent the ideal balance between academic and athletic success." Capitan boasts a 3.76 grade point average in Information Systems and compiled a 2-2 overall singles mark and a 2-0 record in doubles, mostly from the number three position for the men's tennis squad. Hoy, who has a 3.98 GPA in English, served as captain of the Hawk women's tennis team. The squad's number one singles player as a junior, she was unable to compete on the court as a senior while recovering from back surgery. Named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team this year, she concluded her Hawk career as both the school's single season and career leader in victories at #2 singles. Adams, who compiled an 8-3 record on the mound for SJU with a 2.77 ERA, finished her academic career with a 3.96 cumulative grade point average as an elementary education major. A three-time Academic All-A-10 choice and two-time Academic All-District selection, she earned third team Academic All-America honors as both a junior and senior.
