HAWK SOFTBALL SPLITS FINAL TWO GAMES IN FLORIDA

KISSIMMEE, FL (03/14/03) - Senior Brandie Adams picked up her second win of the season in leading the Saint Joseph's softball team to a 4-3 win over Bucknell on Friday at the Rebel Games. The Hawks, 3-4, dropped the nightcap to Austin Peay, 6-2, to finish their Florida trip with a 3-4 record. Adams, who has yet to allow an earned run this season, pitched 4 1/3 innings allowing two hits while striking out two. The Academic All-American was relieved in the fifth inning with one out and the bases loaded by sophomore Kate Reisch. The Albright transfer allowed an RBI single ebfore retiring eight straight Bison to record her first save. Sophomore Cara Deldeo extended her hitting streak to six games with two hits, including a RBI double in the third. Freshman third baseman Jill Clementi also had two hits and an RBI in the game. Against Austin Peay, junior hurler Dana Travis was touched for five runs on seven hits over 3 2/3 innings of work. Reisch again came in in relief, allowing an unearned run in 1 1/3 innings before yielding to Deldeo who hurled two scoreless innings to finish the game. Sophomore Megan Richardson had three hits for SJU, including a double. She also scored both Hawk runs. Sophomore catcher Alicia Cunic also had three hits, driving in both runs with a double and a triple. Deldeo extended her hitting streak to seven game with a single in the fifth. The Hawks are off until Tuesday when they travel to Delaware for a doubleheader.
