4X400 MEETS IC4A STANDARDS IN OUTDOOR OPENER

PHILADELPHIA (03/23/03) - The 4x400 relay team met IC4A standards in the first meet of the season on Sunday as the Hawks opened their outdoor slate at the Quaker Invitational at Penn. The relay ran a time of 3:13.80 to place second in the event. Senior Jerry Puryear won the 400m intermediate hurdles with a time of 53.86 and freshman Andrew Thomas placed second in the 800m with a time of 1:55.47. Other strong showings were turned in by the 4x800 relay team with a second place finish (8:13.90) and sophomore Collin Martin, who placed third in the 5,000m (15:26.89). The Hawks return to action this Saturday at the Lafayette Invitational.
