STATE COLLEGE, PA (01/18/03) - Senior Brian Rosetti and sophomore Doug Rick captured a second and third place, respectively, at Saturday's USTCA Meet hosted by Penn State. Rosetti met IC4A standards in his second event with a 4:12.00 in the mile run, as did Rick with a 1:03.40 in the 500 meters. The 4x800 relay team also qualified for the IC4A/ECAC Championships with a time of 7:49.62. The 4x400 relay, which set a new SJU record last week at Fordham, did not improve on their time but still finished third (3:14.08). Other impressive showings included junior Nick Carras in the 400 meters (7th, 49.40), just .35 seconds off the IC4A qualifying mark and sophomore Brad Schmidt with a ninth place in the 1,000 meters (2:32.24). Freshman Andre Laboy added a tenth in the mile run with 4:19.29 and senior co-captain Tim Fisher placed seventh in the 3,000 meters. Saint Joseph's finished tenth out of 11 teams in the event. Atlantic 10 Conference rival La Salle placed fourth. Host Penn State captured the team title with 170 points.
