4x400 SHATTERS SAINT JOSEPH'S RECORD FOR THIRD TIME

NEW YORK, NY (02/15/03) - Track enthusiasts like to call the Armory a "fast track." It was just that this weekend as the Saint Joseph's men's 4x400 relay team shattered its own school record by earning a second place in the event. The Hawk time of 3:12.91 would have also been a meet record, but Saint Augustine's edged SJU with a time of 3:12.40. The relay consisted of junior Nick Carras, sophomore Doug Rick, senior Jerry Puryear and freshman Andrew Thomas. Head coach Mike Glavin also received strong individual performances from Carras, who won his heat in the 200m with a 22.15, good for third overall and a season best. Rick also competed, running a 22.46. Senior Brian Rosetti finished second in the mile run (4:10.06) to round out the top Hawk performers. SJU finished 20th out of 25 teams with five points. Manhattan won the team crown.
