PHILADELPHIA (04/26/03) -- Pushed by a strong field of competitors, the Saint Joseph's men's track 4x400 relay team set a new school record by running a 3:09.46 at the 109th Penn Relays on Saturday. The time was good enough to place fourth in the IC4A race. Junior Nick Carras, freshman Andrew Thomas, senior Jerry Puryear and sophomore Doug Rick teamed up to break the three-year old record of 3:10.05. Also on Saturday, the men's 4x800 relay placed 10th of 38 teams with a time of 7:36.26, while the women's 4x800 met ECAC standards with a time of 9:06.99.
