Juniors Mike DiDio, Andrew Thomas and Andre Laboy each posted impressive results, turning in Atlantic 10 season-best and IC4A qualifying times, to lead the Saint Joseph's men's track team to a successful weekend on the Wallace Wade Stadium oval at the prestigious Duke Invitational.
Thomas and senior Doug Rick turned in the weekend's top finishes. The duo placed fifth and sixth respectively in the seeded 400m event. Both surpassed their own personal and A-10 season best times in the event as Thomas ran a 47.86 and Rick posted a 47.94, both times met IC4A standards.
DiDio and Laboy also met IC4A standards and posted A-10-best times. DiDio ran 3:51.83 in the Seeded 1500M to place 13th and lead three Hawks across the finish line. He was followed by sophomore Teddy Meyers who placed 24th in 3:55.78 and freshman Rich Ryan was 40th in 4:05.06. Laboy, meanwhile finished ninth in the 5000M with a time of 14:36.63. Junior Joe Mohn also competed in the event running 40th in a time of 15:05.33.
Other top finishes were turned in by Meyers, senior Collin Martin, freshman Bobby Staten and Jeff Jengo. Meyers, in addition to his effort in the 1500m, also placed 14th in the 3000m in a time of 8:29.73. Martin also ran well in that event placing 27th (8:43.74). Martin was even better in his main event finishing fifth in the steeplechase with a time of 9:16.41. Staten ran the second fastest time in the A-10 in the 100m, placing 22nd in a time of 10.99. Jengo finished 13th in the javelin with a toss of 162-11.
