Staten, Thomas, Rick Pace Hawk Men on the Oval at Lafayette

EASTON, PA - Freshman Bobby Staten won the 200m and junior Andrew Thomas captured the 400m to lead the Saint Joseph's men's track team at the Lafayette Invitational. The men also got second place finished from senior Doug Rick and Matt Petrocci, as well as the 4x400 Relay.

Staten and Rick dominated the 200m field, finishing first and second. Staten won the event in a time of 22.32, while Rick followed immediately behind him in 22.44.

Thomas, meanwhile was the first of five Hawks across the line in the 400m. He placed first with a time of 48.32. Joe Bieret (50.17) was fourth and Andrew Vandegrift (50.96) was ninth.

Petrocci placed second in the 800m, leading four Hawks in the event, with a time of 1:56.01.

The 4x400 Relay won in a time of 3:16.94. A second Hawk entry in the event finished fourth.

Other top performance for SJU were delivered by Shawn Duffy (15:31.64), who placed fifth in the 5000; Mike Tatara (1:00.41), who was 14th in the 400m Hurdles; and Jeff Jengo (150-02), who was 12th in the javelin.
