Saint Joseph's University senior Cara Deldeo has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 2 Softball 1st Team. The Hawk standout was honored for the third consecutive season. She is also a three-time Academic All-Atlantic 10 selection.
An interdisciplinary health services major, Deldeo boasts a 3.96 grade-point average. While stellar in the classroom, Deldeo has provided consistency for the Hawks at shortstop over her four seasons. A career .301 batter, Deldeo ranks fourth all-time in program history with 107 runs and sixth in hits at 170. She leads Saint Joseph's with six home runs this season.
To be eligible, student-athletes must be a key starter or reserve and carry a 3.2 or better cumulative grade point average. District 2 includes institutions from the states of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. Voting was conducted by the district's sports information directors. First team selections are eligible for the national Academic All-America team.
