Saint Joseph's outdoor track standouts senior Collin Martin and junior Andria Smythe have been named to the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Academic All-Conference Teams, conference officials announced today.
On the men's side, Martin earned A-10 All-Conference recognition after placing second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and sixth in the 5,000 meters at the 2005 A-10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships. A finance major with a 3.50 grade point average, Martin makes his second straight appearance on the A-10 Academic All-Conference Team. A member of both the A-10 Commissioner's and Saint Joseph's Athletic Director's Honor Rolls, Martin was named to the A-10 Indoor Track and Field Academic All-Conference Team this past March.
On the women's side, Smythe earns her first A-10 Academic All-Conference selection. An A-10 All-Conference Team member, Smythe placed second in the long jump at the A-10 Championships. A member of the ECAC-qualifying 4x100 meter relay, Smythe boasts a 3.36 GPA in economics. Smythe is also a member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and SJU Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
As a team, Saint Joseph's finished eighth on the men's side and ninth on the women's side at the season-ending A-10 Championship son May 8.
