Six different Hawks met IC4A qualifying standards, including seniors Mike DiDio, Andrew Thomas and Matt Petrocci, and the 4x400 relay also qualified in a strong showing by the Saint Joseph's men's track team at the Penn State National Invitational.
Strong showings in the distance events powered the Crimson and Gray. Both DiDio and junior Teddy Meyers delivered A-10 season best times in their respective events. DiDio finished fourth in the seeded 3,000m heat with a time of 8:20.95. Meyers placed fourth in the seeded 5,000m in 14:31.45 and was followed closely across the finish line by sophomore Will Rowland, who also met IC4A standards in 14:43.93.
In the sprints, sophomore Bobby Staten qualified for IC4As with a time of 6.97 in the 60 meter dash and finished sixth in the consolation final with a time of 6.95. Petrocci placed fourth in the seeded 800m (1:52.81) and Thomas placed eighth in the seeded 400 meter (48.82).
The Hawk relays also fared well with the 4x400 of Joe Bieret, Petrocci, Joe Witiw and Thomas placing seventh in a time 3:16.98 to qualify for IC4As. the 4x800 placed sixth in 7:53.08.
